May 20th Tornadoes Sculpture Donations

The Codell Community Service Club is assisting with efforts to construct a memorial in  recognition of the three tornadoes that struck Codell on May 20th, 1916, 1917, and 1918. As you may be aware, the chances of such an event are almost non-existent. The May 20th Tornadoes have been featured in Ripley’s Believe It or Not! and can frequently be found referenced in lists of notable weather events. We currently have a design for the memorial by Tobias Flores and Danielle L. Robinson of Fort Hays State University, and expect the construction to be completed in time for the 100th anniversary of the last tornado that struck on May 20th, 1918.

We are currently accepting donations to help support construction costs of both the sculpture itself and the surrounding memorial. We appreciate any amount you are able to donate, and thank you for your generosity.

You can either donate online by using the button to the right or by ordering a shirt. Again we thank you for your support, and please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or concerns!
